Cad is Gaelscoil ann?

Scoil ina múintear gach ábhar trí Ghaeilge i dtimpeallacht spreagúil thaiteamhach. Bíonn an Ghaeilge mar theanga phobail na scoile idir páistí, múinteoirí, bainistíocht agus tuismitheoirí. Déantar forbairt iomlán ar an bpáiste trí churaclam leathan cuimsitheach. Feidhmíonn gaelscoil faoi ghnáthrialacha na Roinne.

Cén fáth a gcuirfinn mo leanbh/leanaí chuig gaelscoil?

    1. Foghlaimeoidh do pháistí an Ghaeilge tri cheol, spraoi, geáitsíocht agus rannta. Bainfidh siad taitneamh as an teanga a fhoghlaim agus beidh siad bródúil as a bheith in ann í a labhairt.

    2. Léiríonn taighde idirnáisiúnta go gcabhraíonn an dátheangachas le cumas intleachta agus feasachta an duine.

    3. Bíonn féinmhuinín níos airde ag páistí atá in ann dhá theanga a labhairt go héasca.

    4. Bíonn cur amach ag páistí a bhfuil Gaeilge ar a dtoil acu ar a bhféiniúlacht chultúír féin mar Éireannaigh agus mar Eorpaigh. Tá seans níos fearr go mbiedh tuiscint agus meas acu ar dhaoine ó chultúr eile a labhraíonn teangacha éagsúla.

    5. Cabhraíonn an cumas sa dá theanga leis an bpáiste an triú agus an ceathrú teanga a fhoghlaim nuair a bheidh siad níos sine.

Tá an-bhéim sa scoil ar ár ndúchas Gaelach.

What is a Gaelscoil?

A school in which all subjects are taught through Irish in an attractive encouraging environment. Irish is the language of the school community, between children, teachers, management and parents. The child is fully developed through a wide ranging complete curriculum. The Gaelscoil functions under the normal rules and regulations of the Department of Education and Skills.

Why should I send my child / children to a Gaelscoil?

    1. Your child will learn Irish through music, play, gestures and rhymes. They will enjoy learning the language and they will be proud to be able to speak it.

    2. International research shows that being bilingual helps intellectual and cognitive development.

    3. Children who are bilingual can often have enhanced self esteem.

    4. Children who speak Irish understand their own cultural identity as Irish citizens and as Europeans. There is a better chance that they will understand and respect people of other races and cultures who speak different languages.

    5. Being bilingual will help your child learn a third and a fourth language when they are older.

Our Irish heritage is cherished in the school.
